Before you start
What you will need.
Please treat the assembly guidance on this page as a draft until it has been checked against the workshop's own instructions.
Tools
A basic kit
- Cross-head and flat screwdrivers, or a drill driver on a low torque setting
- Spirit level
- Tape measure and pencil
- Rubber mallet
- Drill and bits suited to your wall, for wall units
Space
Room to work
- A clean, flat area larger than the biggest panel
- A blanket or the packaging card to protect faces
- Two people for wall units and anything over 800 mm wide
Check first
Before you open anything
- Count the packages against the delivery note
- Check every panel for transit damage before assembly
- Report problems before fitting: assembled or altered items are harder to put right
Assembly
The general sequence.
Each unit comes with its own guide. This is the order most of them follow.
Lay out and identify
Unpack onto a protected surface and identify each panel and the fixings pack against the guide.
Build the carcass
Join the sides to the base and top, keeping faces flush. Check the carcass is square before fitting the back.
Position and level
Set base units on their plinth or legs and level them front to back and side to side. Join neighbouring units to each other before fixing back to the wall.
Fix wall units securely
Wall units must be fixed to a wall that can carry the load, using fixings suited to that wall type. If you are unsure what the wall is made of, stop and ask a competent person. Fixings for the wall itself are not supplied, because walls differ.
Fit doors and drawers
Hang doors and fit drawers last, then adjust the hinges so gaps are even and doors close flush.
Seal where it meets water
Around sinks and where worktops meet walls, seal junctions with a sanitary-grade sealant so water cannot sit against board edges.
